Our Mission.

Lockdown is over. Our kids are back in the classroom. So why are they still spending the school day staring at screens? And why does LAUSD, the 2nd largest school district in the country, have no master plan for the use of educational technology? Studies increasingly show what parents & teachers already know: extensive screen time has negative impacts on kids’ developing brains. Big Tech is being sued for designing websites and platforms to be addictive to young users, and contributing to a nationwide mental health crisis. Districts across the world are banning smart phones and greatly reducing the use of devices in the classroom. OUR MISSION: Schools Beyond Screens empowers the LAUSD community to demand a higher-quality, lower-tech learning experience for our kids.
